“The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson
These words of Ralph Waldo Emerson are especially fitting as I launch a new chapter in my public career. For more than 15 years, my television show “Uncommon Sense” has aired on public TV. I have had the privilege of interviewing many fascinating people – each with a unique perspective on the world.
Soon I will launch a re-imagined version of the show, called Junia Doan’s The Spark.
What’s different this time? Maybe you have noticed, as I have, that the world is perceived as somewhat darker these days. The social discourse is so negative. We have lost our ability to listen with respect and reverence. All this negativity can bring us down.
Junia Doan’s The Spark is on a mission to change that. My hope is this unique television show and storytelling platform will reshape our perspectives of life for the better. My guests will be people who inspire me, and who demonstrate the qualities that get little attention in this world – energy, gratitude, passion and excitement. I see this as a new and different approach to storytelling that focuses on how each of us can seek greater depth in our thinking and relationships. My hope is that we all, together, become a more positive force to the people we meet.
I hope you’ll follow along on this journey at www.juniadoanthespark.com. All summer long we will be airing our “Reflections” series – shows from past seasons – and the new format will launch October 7. Follow my journey on your favorite social media channel or all of them…links below.
