I spend the season in New York and the holidays are always busy. There are so many things to do, and sometimes the constant activity gets to me. The holidays can exaggerate in all of us a wistfulness for the past, and it’s certainly true for me. I try not to stay in this mindset or waste my energy on worry. Only then can I immerse myself in the moment and remind myself of a phrase I recently shared in my holiday greeting.
“The greatest pleasure of life is love.”
My thanks to Euripides for this beautiful sentiment. When life is too much; when it’s overwhelming, we have a choice to focus on its beauty and majesty or to wander grudgingly through our days. Euripides reminds us that when we pause in the moment and reflect on the value and importance of love, everything changes. Every moment holds the potential for beauty and it’s a choice to see it.
I wish you a wonderful holiday and a loving 2019. I hope this timeless wisdom strengthens you in the new year.
